A hay-based feeding system respects the physiology of digestion and the well-being of the sport horse. For horses with high work intensity a ration mainly of hay is ideal, concentrates should only be a supplement.
The consumption of fodder is very important, it covers most of its nutritional needs, maintains its intestinal flora, provides digestive comfort. The intake of fiber prevents the risk of gastric ulcers. For these athletes who are most of the time in the box outside of training, the hay ration also provides them with entertainment and thus limits behavioral disturbances. If the high nutritional needs of the competition horse can be perfectly satisfied with hay, or even to obtain better sporting skills, this is on condition that the forages are of high quality, of good nutritional value and rich in energy.
